Learn all about Stegosaurus through carefully translated Spanish text and easy-to-read infographics.

Grades 1-3 It's hard to find a child who isn't curious about dinosaurs, and the Los dinosaurios series (6 titles) brings them the facts in easy-to-read Spanish. The stegosaurus stars in this entry, which is filled with bold colors, digital illustrations, and large-scale infographics that won't overwhelm young learners with too much information. The book is sectioned into three chapters that discuss the stegosaurus' features, diet, and behavior, and a two-page world map shows where this dino's fossils have been found. Important vocabulary is bolded, with the definition included on the page in a text box. Fact bubbles and a final "Informaci�n extra" spread add to the fun. A wonderful addition to the classroom or library that is appropriate for both native Spanish speakers and those learning Spanish as a second language.

Gr 1-3-Dinosaurs are popular among lots of readers and a good investment for almost any collection. Unfortunately, this series falls short in a few ways: the format and presentation is somewhat scattered, with fonts in varying sizes and text boxes awkwardly placed, making the information difficult to follow. The font used for the main headings of each chapter may be difficult for some readers to decipher, and some of the text is difficult to see against neon-colored pages. VERDICT This series presents well-translated information and offers definitions of important terms, but is not visually appealing.
