Gr 1-3-This whimsical series offers classic fairy tales with quirky and unexpected plot twists. In Blanca Nieves ve la luz (Snow White Sees the Light), the dwarves run a shoe factory that houses old, grubby, unwanted shoes. But magically, fashionable shoes appear overnight. How? When Sleeping Beauty wakes up after being asleep for 100 years, the world is an entirely different place that she doesn't recognize. These clever titles offer quality translations, colorful illustrations, and plenty of white space around text for easy letter recognition and comprehension. However, the illustrations fail to depict diversity in the characters' skin tones. VERDICT Discerning buyers may want to consider options that feature more racial and ethnic diversity in their illustrations.
