英人诗句，以师梨最奇诡而兼流丽。尝译其《含羞草》一篇，峻洁无伦，其诗格盖合中土义山，长吉而镕冶之者。曩者英吉利莲华女士以《师梨诗选》媵英领事佛莱蔗于海上，佛子持贶蔡八，蔡八移赠于余。太炎居士书其端曰：“师梨所作诗，于西方最为妍丽，犹此土有义山也。其赠者亦女子，展转移被，为曼殊阇黎所得。或因是悬想提维，与佛弟难陀同辙，于曼殊为祸为福，未可知也。”
